.: Numark PT-01

contributed by: Andre Cato
Manufacturer: Numark

Vinyl collecting is getting out of hand. Every week, I walk into several record stores to find not only the plethora of DJs who frequent these types of places, but a growing number of punters, collecting and building their own sets of black vinyl discs.

What is even more remarkable is the fact that most of us really can’t afford to go out and purchase a brand new Technics SL-1200 Mk2 Turntable just to listen to and scratch up a few tunes in your bedroom rave...

The PT-01 is Numark’s latest release into the market, but has one very strong difference…. This toy is for everyone, not just DJs.

For the low low price (rrp around $240) The PT-01 is the worlds smallest, portable turntable, knocking off several inches off Vestaxs’ last effort, meaning that you can literally fit this deck in your record bag! It runs on 6 x D size batteries and will last you about 45 hours of air-time. It has a pitch controller on rotary knob as well as a tone knob and volume.

On the side of the unit you will find a ¼ and 1/8 inch headphone jacks, a stereo line output (meaning you can plug this into any home stereo aux line or TV, car stereo, etc) and the option to plug in the power!

Over the coming weeks we will be looking at ways DJs are taking advantage of this new toy as well as why this looks like it could easily become the next beat-box stereo for people the world over.
