.: Sneak - DJ Biography
b. 1 January 1969, Puerto Rico. Sneak is a highly respected member of Chicago's "second generation" of house music producers. Arriving in Chicago in 1983, Sneak, who could not speak English, was drawn to instrumental music and graffiti art.

He was later inspired by early pioneers such as DJ Pierre and Marshall Jefferson. Several of these inspirational figures had left for New York by the late 80s, just as Sneak was entering the music business.

Nevertheless, Cajmere had begun to revive the city's classic house sound and established Cajual Records. DJ Sneak released a series of records on Cajual's sister-label, Relief Records, which promoted a slightly harder sound. He has also worked on productions for Strictly Rhythm Records, Henry Street, ZYX, 83 West and Feverpitch.

Several of the Feverpitch recordings featured Armand Van Helden as co-producer and the partnership's strong Latin influences can be heard on them. Sneak has also remixed Sneaker Pimps and has worked with Roger Sanchez and Dave Clarke.

His DJing skills are in demand all over the world and he is a regular visitor to Ibiza during the summer clubbing season. His 1996 track "You Can't Hide From Your Bud" was something of a masterpiece, setting a blueprint for many subsequent "filtered disco' tracks and preceding the wave of funky, disco-influenced house that would prove massively popular during the next few years " "Music Sounds Better" by Stardust (Thomas Bangalter) being a prime example.

Sneak remains committed to the original Chicago heritage of house music and feels that many current DJs and producers have lost touch with the music's roots. Sneak has a simple plan for when the "underground" inevitably goes "overground": "I'll go deeper underground."
