.: Alan Thompson - DJ Biography
One wonders where to start with the man that is Alan Thompson? He's a DJ, Producer and broadcaster extraordinaire, and he's been grafting for more than a decade. The shelf life of this man is everlasting, he's someone with his fingers firmly on the pulse of dance, and is among the very few with the ability to adapt his musical style to accommodate changes in popular music trends. He is a DJ who spent much of his early days living and breathing the dance floor, something that's got him where he is today.

One of the most obvious attributes of Alan Thompson is that he is as down to earth today as he was when he started out. A boy from South Wales originally, Alan set off to London not knowing what to do. Two decks later and a lot of time spent on London's dance floors, the DJ Alan Thompson emerged.

Known for his 'disco house' sets for much of his career, Alan has proved himself versatile in every way shape and form and has always strived on being three steps ahead of the rest. He spent much of his early career spinning 'American tribal house', and always adapting to change. The recent popularity of hard house gave him the opportunity to experiment with his sound. The result is his own unique style of hard dance mostly originating from Holland, a sound that has pioneered in the UK and made him more in demand than ever before. Alan Thompson is a man dedicated to house music, perhaps then, the reason why he is amongst the greatest spinners to emerge out of London, and one with an ever-evolving style. There isn't a country that hasn't received the Thompson treatment! Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hong Kong, Italy, Israel, Lebanon, Russia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain and the length and breadth of the USA.

With the amount of time Thompson spends deejaying at home and away, you'd find it hard to believe he can find any time for the studio, but he does. Alan is as busy in the studio as he is at the decks. He's compiled and mixed compilations for the cream of the industry including Trade and DTPM. His solo discography is sensibly heaving with success, leaving his co-productions even bigger. Alan Thompson has collaborated with some of the industries most reputable music maestros. His dedication to house music has won him recognition from the nations most prestigious institution, the BBC. In the Summer of 2000 Alan recorded his own Essential Mix live from London's Mardi Gras festival, and was subsequently a nominee for Best Essential Mix of that year by Muzik magazine. This year alone he continues to present his own radio show on the Ministry of Sound Digital Network, and will present Virgin Atlantics in flight music magazine throughout the summer season.
