.: Nick Sentience - DJ Biography
Nick shall be headlining Frantic this Friday at the CAPSULE nightclub, in Swanston st, Melbourne.

Nick Sentience is a young producer from Portsmouth who signed with Nukleuz Records when he was 17. Nukleuz found him through "Future Music Magazine" after Nick had sent them his demo tracks and they put them on their cover mount CD and hailed him as the new Liam Howlett (from The Prodigy).

He has developed a sound that Ed Jenkins (label mananger Nukleuz) has described as "one third hard house, one third trance and one third techno". Nick describes it more as "The energy of hard house with the depth of trance and the funk of techno". He is being hailed as the next "big thing" with his hard chunky funked up style of sounds.

"I always hope to make my DJ sets have dynamics so that you aren't kept on the same level for too long but at the same time peak it for long enough to satisfy. Wherever I play whether it is Frantic in London or other countries like Japan or Australia, I find this style works".

After buying his first decks at 15 Nick started producing with his live techno and breakbeat act called Sentience. After working with Sentience for the past two years Nick has now started producing his solo work. He has produced the Judge Jules and Pete Tong championed "Purple Twilight" and has just finished work on remixing projects for Ministry of Sound, Virgin and Honey Pot Recordings.

"I try to write music that will sound great loud and rock a dance floor but if you want to listen to it at home you can because of the detail I put into it". And what are the plans for the future. "My main ambition is to release an album that will incorporate all of my ideas for breakbeat and ambient tracks as well as dance floor mayhem".

Nick is very excited about his tour to Austrlia. I asked what it is that he enjoys most about playing and producing. "I enjoy the way that DJ'ing means you get to party all weekend and producing means that you can watch how the ideas you have can make people have a wicked time. Seeing my studio partner play our remix of "Injected with the Poison" at the Frantic last week was a real buzz. You can experience so much through DJ'ing, especially internationally and I genuinely believe I have a lot of good ideas to offer people".
