.: So Hot for You...
date: 21st January 2005
columnist: Margaux

XZIBIT
Illusive Entertainment & The Frontier Touring Company are thrilled to announce that West Coast heavyweight XZIBIT will hit Australia in March 2005. In addition to his successes in the music arena Xzibit has been developing a portfolio in the film industry, with a cameo role in Eminem’s 8 Mile, and an appearance later this year in the Jennifer Aniston suspense thriller flick Derailed. He will also appear alongside Ice Cube in the upcoming XXX sequel, XXX State of the Union. 2005 will see Xzibit hit Australia for his first ever headline tour of our shores. Performing all his underground hits plus tracks from ‘Weapons Of Mass Destruction’ including the current single’ Hey Now (Mean Muggin)’ this will be an explosive hip-hop show not to be missed.

FASHION ALERT
First, it was the beaded moccasins and moccasin boots. Then it was Mukluks, the UGG boot alternative of choice this winter. Now, we’re noticing more downtown hipsters donning other pow-wow-ready wares. Chandelier earrings, pearls, and charm bracelets are being traded in for leather and feather dream catcher accessories. Intricate seed-bead chokers and belts reminiscent of summer camp arts-and-crafts class are suddenly hip again, and Pocahontas-style braids aren’t just for school girls anymore. Top it all off with a Woodstock-era headband and a suede fringed vest. You may feel more like a hippie, but hey, retro is cool. And with the globe trekker look being one of the major trends on the Spring 2005 runways, we may again be seeing the mainstream in this bohemian look that we thought we had left behind after the Spring 2002 peasant blouse overload.

INERTIA TAKES !K7 ON BOARD
Inertia is pleased to announce their first addition for 2005 - the highly regarded !K7 and Rapster (aka BBE) labels. Since the early nineties Berlin's !K7 has paved the way for some of the world's most exciting electronic artists including Swayzak, Funkstorung, Ursula Rucker, Princess Superstar, Tosca, Herbert, Peace Orchestra, Tiga, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Stereo MCs, Thievery Corp and Andrea Parker. Rapster, with its own take on soul and hip hop, has delivered albums from Princess Superstar, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Roy Ayres, Kutmasta Kurt and Pete Rock. The first 2005 release from !K7 will be a new studio album from electronic music maestro A Guy Called Gerald, who toured Australia in December. His album 'To All Things What They Need' will be released February 7th. Rapster will start the year with 'Kings of Funk' featuring RZA and Keb Darge.

AGENT MAD PRESENTS 33&1/3
After smashing into the New Year with the storming B.B.Q event at the Espy the 3’s are back for another breakbeat and drum ‘n’ bass bash. After touring all the major festivals of the European summer, the VNE show is finally coming to Melbourne. Freq Nasty is one of Melbourne’s favourite international breaks talents and this time he’s bringing us his custom made graphics, 3D character animation with bold political undertones combining decks, FX, and a multi-screen VJ show. Described by Freq Nasty himself as “the visual equivalent of Michael Moore and Public Enemy getting pissed on the set of Monsters Inc. during an anti-globalisation riot.” DJ Zinc became a drum and bass household name in 1995 after producing one of the biggest anthems that year ‘Super Sharp Shooter’ on Ganja Records. His sets are jammed to the bumper with depth-charge bass, crystal-tipped breaks and memorable, mysterious night-world melodies, covering hard soul slow-jams, laid-back girl singers, itchy, scratchy drum & bass and megaton MC chaos. DJ Klute AKA Tom Withers, has been a fixture on the drum and bass scene for over 10 years, lending his creativity to the likes of Metalheadz, 31 Records and his early stable Certificate 18. His more recent stable Commercial Suicide has seen releases by Klute himself, Calibre, Total Science, Digital, and Austrian prodigy D.Kay. Supported by Melbourne’s own Brewster B and DJ Sean, this is one event I’ll be taking a sickie for if I worked on Saturdays! Friday 25th February 2005 at Prince St Kilda.

Answers:
Angel food ... Sweet, loving, cuddly. You love all warm and fuzzy items. A little nutty at times. Sometimes you need an ice cream cone at the end of the day. Others perceive you as being childlike and immature at times.

Brownies... You are adventurous, love new ideas, are a champion of underdogs and a slayer of dragons. When tempers flare up, you whip out your sabre. You are always the oddball with a unique sense of humour and direction. You tend to be very loyal.

Lemon Meringue... Smooth, sexy, & articulate with your hands, you are an excellent after-dinner speaker and a good teacher. But don't try to walk and chew gum at the same time. A bit of a diva at times, but you have many friends.

Vanilla with Chocolate Icing .... Fun-loving, sassy, humorous. Not very grounded in life; very indecisive and lack motivation. Everyone enjoys being around you, but you are a practical joker. Others should be cautious in making you mad. However, you are a friend for life.

Strawberry Short Cake ... Romantic, warm, loving. You care about other people and can be counted on in a pinch. You tend to melt. You can be overly emotional and annoying at times.

Chocolate on Chocolate .... Sexy, always ready to give and receive. Very creative, adventurous, ambitious, and passionate. You have a cold exterior but are warm on the inside. Not afraid to take chances. Will not settle for anything average in life. Love to laugh.

Ice Cream... You like sports, whether it be baseball, football, basketball, or soccer. If you could, you would like to participate, but you enjoy watching sports. You don't like to give up the remote control. You tend to be self-centred and high maintenance.

Carrot Cake... You are a very fun loving person, who likes to laugh. You are fun to be with. People like to hang out with you. You are a very warm hearted person and a little quirky at times. You have many loyal friends.

"I like the job. That's what I'll miss the most... I'm not sure anybody ever liked this as much as I've liked it."
-Bill Clinton
